IRCTC has a set of refund rules that are followed when calculating the irctc cancellation charges to be deducted when a ticket is canceled. It is based heavily on the time when the tickets are canceled of the train and when is the train’s scheduled departure.
IRCTC Cancellation Charges
1] The Charges For Cancellation Of Confirmed Tickets Are As Follows:
1] If the confirmed tickets are canceled 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, then charges are
a] 1st AC/Executive Class: Rs. 240
b] 2 AC/1st Class: Rs. 200
c] 3AC/3A economy: Rs. 180
d] Second Sleeper Class: Rs. 120
e] Second Class: Rs. 60
2] If the confirmed tickets are canceled between 48 hours and 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, then flat 25% of the fare is deducted as irctc cancellation charges which are subjected to minimum charges as per (1) above.
3] If the tickets are canceled between 12 hours and 4 hours of the scheduled departure of the train, then flat 50% of the fare is deducted as irctc cancellation charges which are subjected to minimum charges as per (1) above.
4] If a ticket is canceled within 4 hours of the scheduled departure of the train, then NO REFUND is given.
2] Charges For Cancellation of Waitlisted/RAC tickets
In the case of cancellation of tickets on the waiting list or RAC, full fare is refunded after deduction of Clerkage charges which are common across all Class. The charges are:
1] Rs 30 for Second Class ticket &
2] Rs 60 for all other classes.
For the above-given conditions, date of booking and cancellation, Class of travel and number of passengers are to be taken into consideration to calculate the final refund amount.
